狂犬病控制

狂犬病是一種由攻擊神經系統的病毒引起的致命疾病。它幾乎殺死所有因此生病的哺乳動物或人類。狂犬病病毒主要存在於狂犬病動物的口水和大腦中。它可以通過咬傷或在傷口或眼睛或口腔中吸入口水或腦組織而傳播。

您可以做什麼來幫助控制狂犬病：

  • 讓您的獸醫接種您的狗，貓，雪鼠和精選的畜。保持疫苗接種最新狀態。
  • 如果您的寵物被野生動物攻擊或咬傷，請向當地的健康或動物管制當局報告。確保您接種疫苗的狗，貓或雪松接受了補充疫苗。
  • 通過將動物保留在您的財產上來限制暴露的可能性。不要讓寵物自由漫遊。
  • 請勿將垃圾或寵物食物放在外面。它可能吸引野生或流浪動物。
  • 不要將野生動物作為寵物。從遠處欣賞所有野生動物，即使它們看起來很友好。狂怒的動物有時會作為馴服。如果您看到動物行為奇怪，請向當地的動物控制部門報告，不要自己靠近它。

如果你被咬了：

Don’t panic, but don’t ignore the bite, either.

  • Wash the wound thoroughly with soap and lots of water. Washing thoroughly will greatly lessen the chance of infection.
  • Give first aid as you would for any wound.
  • If possible, capture the animal under a large box or can, or at least identify it before it runs away. Do not try to pick up the animal.
  • Call an animal control or law enforcement officer to get the animal.
  • Notify a health care provider immediately and explain how you got the bite.  They will want to know if the animal has been captured.
    • If necessary, your provider will give the anti-rabies treatment recommended by the United States Public Health Service.
    • They will also treat you for other possible infections that could be caused from the bite.
